After two years of design proofing, Ugan made a chair "by making clothes" concept the cooperation between sensory and product logistics. This is also another brand-new design after the product logistics-shaped paper chair-"floating. Because the chair structure is very similar to the design idea of the Tibetan saddle, both use ropes to connect the wooden blocks to achieve dynamic stability, so it is named "saddle".

"Saddle" chair is composed of 42 floors. Based on the research on the theme of "Natural Dyeing of Wood Materials of Traditional Chinese Handicraft Materials", the traditional natural dyeing process is applied to wood, and at the same time, the structural thinking of patchwork is taken from the plane "Sew" to form a body, and finally form a "saddle" chair.

Saddle" chair is based on Ugan concept as an expert in studying wood materials. It exclusively supports the five-year "Chinese Traditional Handicraft Materials Research Project" of Rong Design Library. In 2019, the research theme was "Natural Dyeing of Wood Materials in the Research of Traditional Chinese Handicraft Materials", which is the research on biological dyeing, plant dyeing and mineral dyeing of wood materials. The natural dyeing process is used to dye wood to create "wood" Skin "has many possibilities.

Different from the Western color numbers that are accurate to numbers. Traditional Chinese dyeing is more directly related to natural substances, using mulberries, cochineal, yam, polygonum, minerals, gardenia and other substances from nature as raw materials.

According to different dye combination tests, wood blocks with different color systems are extracted. Each color system presents different gradient colors according to the changes of soaking time, temperature and humidity. As a result, 42 "saddle" chairs sewn from naturally dyed floors have different colors.

this, designers have carried out many investigations and attempts, and this has become the biggest challenge in the process of making "saddle" chairs.

"Saddle" chair was born from the traditional Chinese creation concept and handicraft-patchwork (Patchwork).

"Patchwork" technology is a form of folk art creation. The fabric is sewn with needle and thread to splice rags from different sources into a whole. The designer drew inspiration from the concept of patchwork and tried to connect the wooden blocks with threads, sewing 42 oak boards into a three-dimensional whole, and building a seat with soft armrests and high backrests.

Designer visited the Tibetan Deke area, he happened to meet a saddle workshop and learned that the Tibetan saddle is not a complete piece of wood, but is made of six pieces of wood connected by sheepskin rope. When the horse runs, the six wood blocks will be slightly misaligned to achieve a state of dynamic balance, which not only reduces the damage to the horse's back, but also has the comfort of fitting the human body. Drawing on this, the designer loosened the connection nodes of the chair, so each piece of wood is not completely fixed. The "sewing" process gives the chair a certain degree of flexibility. When a person sits on it, it will also occur. Slightly dislocation makes it adapt to the cushioning of the body.

Breaks through the traditional connection method of wood floor and connects wood by "sewing". 42 floors are connected through different angles of the connecting surfaces, so that the two-dimensional floor rises into a three-dimensional structure. In order to ensure the comfort of the chair, the designer repeatedly tested it, and the "saddle" chair was created.

Based on the design concept of "saddle" chair, Ugan concept a whole set of furniture and floor, a wooden floor rises and splices into tables, lamps and bookshelves, so that they can leave the ground and spread in three-dimensional space.
