Following the opening of the art installation "Zhang Deng Jie Cai I-Coloring" in Panlong Tiandi, PINWU was invited to create an art installation Zhang Deng Jie Cai II - Lighting in the public space of Panlong Tiandi, which launched an artistic dialogue on the collision and fusion of tradition and contemporary among the pavilions, blocks and trees in Panlong Ancient Town to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Dragon.

"Lantern" originated in China is a traditional folk handicrafts of Han nationality, made of paper or silk as the lantern skin, the skeleton is usually made of bamboo or wooden strips. "Lantern" is an important entertainment culture for thousands of years, it rewards God to entertain people, and is mostly used for the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival and other festivals to add light to the festival and pray for peace.

The design team extracted elements from the form and process of "lantern", combined with the color pattern of contemporary design language, designed a series of "dragon" themed art installations for Panlong World.

The dragon lantern located in the Beishi main street and corridor is our main installation. In the traditional lantern production craft, the dragon tail adopts the structural form of bamboo skeleton combined with metal skeleton, so that it maintains a balance of light and strong. We use geometric shapes and rich colors to decorate the New Year dragon parade, giving new life to the traditional lantern color craft, and the ancient dragon lantern folk activities across time and space dialogue, to open this sensory feast.

At sunset, the lights come on and become the finishing touch of the installation. Dragon lanterns at night inject more vitality into the quaint streets and make them lively and lively. The dragon rises in the air, shuttling between pavilions and towers，which is the auspicious sign.

The streets were bustling with people and bright street lights. We extended the dragon body pattern design into a flag lamp, falling on both sides of the South and North main streets, as if the dragon is always around to accompany us, warm and bright.

Hanging colorful bamboo lanterns for the eaves of the pavilion and the branches of the trees, wake up the gray roof tiles and branches during the day, light up the black night, and bring a new and cheerful mood. The traditional bamboo frame combined with bright bold colors, full of tension and harmony.

In the cold winter, the trees in Prayer Square wear dragon scale "new clothes", gradually let people feel the lively atmosphere of the New Year, and pray together for a happy and good weather in Dragon Year.

The retro stage built for the drama performance has also added new colors, wearing colorful "new clothes" to show the lively and beautiful, and the bamboo lanterns hanging in the four corners are interwoven with each other.
