"Each plant has only one kind of leaf." (Mr. Ling Zongyong, Taiwan's famous florist)
In the same way, every child, like a plant, has its own unique nature.
The original intention of the "plants and nature" concept furniture is to create future children's furniture through the two dimensions of nature and tradition, and ultimately achieve the result of inspiring children's nature. Through three different theme environment design, let children experience the fun of independent creation with the help of plants, sounds and colors.
The shape of the table is an asymmetrical warm stone. If you accidentally break a goose warm stone, you will find it colorful and beautiful patterns; When you open the desktop to adjust the Angle, you will also find the creation of Sirankap pattern hidden in it. This shape was chosen to let children know that there are no perfectly symmetrical objects in the world. Unique nature, is particularly valuable.
With patterns to inspire children's interest in tradition and edify, the product logistics team gets a lot of nutrition from the traditional patterns of Tujia Xilankapu in Enshi, Hubei Province. Through the deconstruction and redesign of traditional patterns, new patterns and colors are created, which are simultaneously applied to the back of the children's table and inside the drawer. When a child opens a drawer or dives under a desk, they will be surprised to discover these secrets. These patterns are mostly of leaves, stones, and water ripples, which is closely related to the Tujia people's living near the water and their great respect for nature.
At the same, these patterns are used in the screen. We use bamboo weaving, felt weaving, re-interpretation of the classic pattern of West Ankap. Plant dyeing was also applied to bamboo strips and felt strips.
"Each plant has only one kind of leaf." (A quote by Mr. Ling Zongyong, a renowned floral artist from Taiwan)
Similarly, each child, like a plant, has a unique nature of their own.
The creation of the "Plants and Nature" conceptual furniture is driven by the intention to inspire children's innate qualities. The designer aims to create future children's furniture through the dimensions of nature and tradition, ultimately achieving the goal of nurturing children's inherent nature. By employing three distinct thematic environments and utilizing plants, sounds, and colors, the design allows children to experience the joy of independent creation.
Materials and Craft: Bamboo Weaving
To create a workspace for the little artist to inspire their creativity, we have crafted numerous leaf textures using bamboo weaving. The indigo-dyed blue contrasts beautifully with the natural yellow of the bamboo. Additionally, the weaving technique has been used to provide ample space for holding paints for the young artist.
Materials and Craft: Mixed Weaving of Bamboo Strips and Felt
We employed a mix of bamboo strips, felt strips, and felt cords to create patterns reminiscent of seaweed leaves and stones. Using traditional felting and plant dyeing techniques, we designed a colorful felt screen for the little scientists. The small screens on the table are also crafted using the felt rolling technique.
Materials and Craft: Copper, Wood, Bamboo, Felt
To create an imaginative sound studio for little musicians, we selected materials capable of producing sound, such as copper, wood, and bamboo pipes, combined with soft felt strips. The bamboo pipes are inspired by traditional wind chimes, with multiple pipes interwoven to produce sound through wind or striking. The copper, sourced from cymbals used in instruments, features leaf-shaped engravings. By combining copper and wood through a stitching technique, the two materials create different tones when struck.
